Fischer backs ethanol makers

Recently, a bipartisan group of members of the U.S. Senate circulated a letter to the EPA urging them to protect the integrity of the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS), and U.S. Sen. Deb Fisher was there for us.
The Congress passed the RFS program as part of a comprehensive energy bill in 2007, but for the last few years the EPA has lowered the amounts of renewable fuels that could be consumed, and thus produced. This impacts Nebraska. As the EPA proposes to lower the RFS number once again, 39 U.S. senators stood tall to say that lowering volume requirements will hurt farmers, investments, development of new technologies, and renewable fuels producers.
