Nebraska ethanol industry calls on EPA to up biofuel standard

Nebraska’s ethanol supporters criticized newly proposed standards that mandate how much renewable fuels must be mixed into the nation’s fuel supply for 2017 and for biomass-based diesel in 2018. 

The Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday proposed volume increases for all fuel categories covered by the Renewable Fuel Standard. Total renewable fuel volumes would grow by nearly 700 million gallons from 18.11 billion gallons in 2016 to 18.8 billion gallons in 2017.
